How to recognize an old mirror
Old mirror glass is slightly gray and sometimes shows small dark spots around the edges, known as patina. Many buyers specifically look for this. On other pieces, the glass has been replaced while the frame is old. The description states which applies. We check frames for secure joints and safe hanging.

Frequently asked questions about mirrors

Opposite a window, it makes the room look larger and brings in light; above a sideboard or a dresser , it highlights the furniture, and in the hallway it replaces a hallway mirror.
How heavy is a Baroque mirror?
Large mirrors with carved frames are heavy and need a stable mounting in wall plugs. We provide the dimensions for every piece.
Can old mirror glass be replaced?
Yes, any glazier can cut new glass to fit the old frame. However, many customers deliberately keep the old glass with its patina.
Does a gold mirror go with modern furniture?
It is one of the most popular combinations of all: a Baroque mirror above a simple teak sideboard.
