The Vienna cane, also known as cane or rattan wickerwork, is the octagonal pattern made from rattan strips that has featured on the Thonet-style café chair since 1859 and on cantilever chairs since the Bauhaus era. Does Vienna cane hold up to everyday use?

Yes, with normal use it lasts for many years. Don’t stand on the seat or sit on it in wet clothes. Milano uses genuine, hand-woven rattan cane.

Can I buy individual chairs later?

Yes, Milano and Lima are series chairs and available in any quantity.

How many chairs will fit around my table?

Allow about 60 cm of table width per person; armchairs need a little more. The dimensions are listed with each chair.

What’s the difference between a cantilever chair and a four-legged chair?

The cantilever chair flexes slightly because its tubular steel frame has no rear legs. This makes it comfortable for long evenings.
